On the train:

Working on the train is a good way to get myself into gear for the day and use the idle time I’ve been wasting for ages. 4 hours in a day I spend travelling, usually too tired to work but today I decided that if I didn’t utilize this I’m at a massive disadvantage to everyone else.

The results are interesting, you are very limited for space and what you can accomplish as I can’t be too obnoxious about it but I managed to get myself together once again and do observational sketches as well as plan out how I’m going to structure my sketchbook from now. Also had more of a think about what I want to accomplish with the knitting machine today and how I can use deconstruction to my advantage

I had the idea to use a blazer and deconstruct this as I’ve previously mentioned jazz as having a flow which works metaphorically with the idea of water so this doesn’t seem too abstract nor left field. I’d be taking inspiration from some of my original research images with king krule and combining this with where my project is now

Also thinking about taking the black blazer and connecting it with the rusty metal I’m working with to show the link between rust and oil I was looking at previously.

After the full day:

Today was very productive in development. I began to deconstruct the blazer, collaged with the imagery and developed a piece that captures the movement I want within oil on water. I also visited the knit workshop and learnt a lot as well as developing a few samples which ended up being really helpful in envisioning how I want the foot piece to look. It's also opened up a lot of doors as far as envisioning pieces go as now I have another medium I can utilise.

I also made some more samples using ink and the rain in a downpour today which was successful and i feel this can influence more print designs as well as silhouette as it already has. I love the way it smudges and drips I want to try and capture this in the garment silhouette in a tasteful manner and I feel a good reference for things like this would be margiela.

Reflecting on today, I've realised that in order to work at the rate I have before I need to utilise my time correctly as well as working actively not passively. I set up my own space in the studio which allowed me to spread out and see the vision instead of keeping it all on one table and my laptop which gets confusing and I find to be claustrophobic.
